Sylvia Whitlock

Sylvia Whitlock (A.K.A. "Ms. Sylvie") was born and raised in Upstate New York. She began dancing at the age of 6 with training in Ballet, Lyrical, Pointe, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Musical Theater. She graduated from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 2010 where she majored in Political Science and minored in Business and Dance. There she was a member and choreographer of Geneseo's Orchesis Dance Group, Geneseo's Dance ensemble, and senior captain of the Geneseo Dance Team, Knightline. She was the Head of the Dance department at Camp Micah in Bridgton, ME for 3 summers during her time at Geneseo. Sylvie is a 2013 graduate from the University of Baltimore School of Law and works in DC for a federal agency. She has danced previously with Common Ground Dance Company and currently performs with the professional company at Kinetics Dance Theatre. Sylvie has taught around the Mid-Atlantic region since 2011, including 8 years as an instructor and competitive dance coach at Studio 180 Dance in Annapolis, MD. Sylvie is so excited to get to teach the wonderful dancers at THE NEWMAN and looks forward to a successful year!
