Lindsey trained with Mrs. Newman for eight years and developed a solid foundation in the technique used in all genres of dance. Brooke Newman’s dances often won top technical awards at dance competitions, so I was very confident in her instruction. Brooke made a big impact on the way that Lindsey conveyed emotion into the choreography by making connections between the technique, the music, and the story of a dance.
Lindsey also studied for years with Breonna DeLoach and Sylvia Whitlock. These instructors, along with Brooke Newman, were passionate about dance and really imparted that love to the students. Their choreography was always relevant because they were always developing their own training. Not only were these ladies dancers, but they were also natural teachers. Each of these teachers were excellent at finding the balance between maintaining a discipline to the art and interacting with and nurturing the students.
Lindsey spent many successful years with these ladies who she looked up to, and I was always grateful that she had such strong role models.”

When we moved from Oregon two years ago, Sheila had been dancing with the same studio for 11 years. We were very worried about finding her a new dance home. Some of the staff members of THE NEWMAN welcomed us with open arms. You not only found a place for Sheila to continue doing what she loved, you immediately brought her into the fold and gave her a place to call home. Since that time, she has continued to grow and flourish as a dancer. We are so excited to be a part of THE NEWMAN Dance Center and have Sheila finish her high school career with such great dance teachers, mentors and leaders. Sheila is hoping to take her dance to the next level in University and I am so thrilled she will have the influence of Brooke and the team at THE NEWMAN to help launch her into her next dance step!

I just wanted to take a minute to applaud Ms. Katie. My daughter, Remy has her for silks and she adores her!! She loves her style of teaching! She loves how she explains what to do, and lets them do their thing. Remy has taken a few classes throughout her life, and silks is her #1 absolute favorite thing!! Driving home, after her first class, she said..mom, I think I’ve found my “thing”. I feel that, while a bit of it is the actual sport of aerials that she loves, it’s also Ms. Katie. Remy is already looking forward to the day that she can be her teaching assistant!!

I cannot say enough good things about the experience our daughter has had dancing with Ms. Brooke, Ms. Breonna and Ms. Sylvie. She first came to dance in middle school where she had a tough time socially and needed a safe and accepting environment to call her own. Not only did she end up finding that, but she completely fell in love with dance itself! Starting dance in middle school is not an easy task, but with the coaches talent and hard work, she was able to learn a lot of the necessary techniques quickly and ended up on a competitive team the last two years. She is now a happy , cheerful teenager who cannot imagine her life without dance. Thanks to THE NEWMAN’s incredible coaches, she is also a member of the Broadneck dance company and is looking forward to continuing dancing at THE NEWMAN for the rest of her high school years! We are full of gratitude, this was the best decision we ever made for our daughter!
